Brant County takes its name from Joseph Brant, a Mohawk leader who was a member of the Iroquois Confederacy. Brant led Mohawk warriors, and colonial volunteers during the American Revolution. After the war, Brant and his followers received land grants in the area that is now the Six Nations Reserve.

Why a daffodil for their pin? It has been the city's official floral emblem since 1919. It was chosen because it looks like the candlestick telephone which was conceived of by Alexander Graham Bell in Brantford.
