In 1851, a massive iron and glass structure called The Crystal Palace was built in London, England to house the Great Exhibition. The structure was so unique and popular that replicas were built in communities around the world. In 1887 one such replica was built in Picton, Ontario which is located in Prince Edward County. The Picton Crystal Palace stands to this day and is the only original remaining structure of its kind in North America.
