Welcome to Pin Quest Yukon
As of the launch of Pin Quest Yukon in 2022, the Yukon territory has eight municipalities. A pin for each of these municipalities has been collected and are all displayed below.
The Carmacks area was a rest stop on an indigenous trade route for thousands of years before the early 1890s when European settlers built a trade post in the area to serve a nearby coal mine. The town was officially incorporated in 1984.
Traditionally territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in people, Dawson City is tied to the Klondike Gold Rush in Canadian lore. Between 1896 and 1898, the First Nations fishing camp became a city of 17,000 and was Yukon’s capital for 54 years.
Most unique municipal name origin from this project so far! Faro is named after a 17th century card game that was briefly illegal in France and was more popular than poker until the early 1900s.
Traditionally hunting and fishing areas for the Southern Tutchone people, modern Haines Junction developed in the 1940s during construction of the Alaska Highway and was a construction camp for the US Army Corps of Engineers who built the highway
Mayo was originally home to the Na-cho Nyäk Dun people who still live in the area, The original missionary village settlement was destroyed by a flood in 1934. The community was named after circus acrobat turned explorer Alfred Mayo.

Teslin is home of the Teslin Island Tlingit First Nations. It is located on Teslin Lake which is home to 11 species of fish and is spanned by Nisutlin Bridge - the longest span on the entire Alaska Highway.
Watson Lake’s most famous tourist attraction was started by a homesick US soldier who place a sign pointing towards his hometown. Over time, over 77,000 signs have been added to the Signpost Forest and more are added by visitors every year.
In 2007, Whitehorse established an environmental sustainability plan with a range of actions identified by members of the public. In 2013, it received a Guinness World Record as the city with the least air pollution in the world!
