Haliburton County is home to the 5,400 acre Haliburton Scout Reserve, the largest scout reserve in Canada.
It has been actively managed by Scouts Canada since 1947.

Algonquin Highlands is home to the Dorset Lookout Tower. Originally built in 1922 as a fire lookout, the tower was rebuilt in 1967 at a height of 30 metres which provides the observation deck with a scenic view 142 metres above the Lake of Bays.

The United Townships of Dysart, Dudley, Harcourt, Guilford, Harburn, Bruton, Havelock, Eyre and Clyde has Canada’s longest municipal name. It had the longest place name until passed by a Newfoundland and Labrador local services district in 2010.

Highlands East is the first municipality in Ontario to provide public mineral collecting sites. At these sites you can collect different rare and fine minerals including apatite, fluorite, mica, zircon, and stillwellite.

Home of the Minden Wild Water Preserve, a 100 acre park with some of Canada's best whitewater rapids. So good in fact that it was the host of the 2015 Pan Am Games canoe slalom events.
